There are about 70 people in line now. The Apple store is taking inventory of what they have. At some point they are going to go through the line and ask people which they want to buy, so they can determine how long supplies will last.

Sorry you disagree, but it's a fact of life... the MP3 format does not support gapless playback inherently, so to speak.
I should perhaps re-word my article. :) Gapless MP3 playback is definitely possible but there are things that need to be worked around to do it.
Winamp (with proper plugins and configuration), Foobar2000 (out of the box) and the Rio Karma portable DAP all do gapless MP3 playback perfectly.
Originally the only way to do gapless MP3 playback was a bit of a hack: Detect a sudden drop to silence at the end of a file in the very last MP3 frame and remove it. (It is a hack but, when done properly it works quite well and it's a good fallback for files made with old MP3 encoders.)
But if you encode a file with newer versions of the LAME encoder then it writes a tag which says exactly how long the track is and does pretty much the same thing that Ogg Vorbis and the other "gapless formats" I mention do. So, in that sense, MP3 is as gapless as any other format, provided the right encoder is used. (LAME is open-source and used pretty much everywhere, at least in freeware/shareware programs, but also in many commercial programs.)
In fact, having tried Ogg Vorbis for a while I've now gone back to MP3 on my Karma (I use lossless FLAC on my PC, but that doesn't fit much music on a portbale :)). OV uses a lot more CPU power which results in slightly less battery life. More importantly, there's a lot of precalculation to be done before an OV file can start playing and this sometimes trips up the Karma's gapless playback while it's always perfect with MP3 files. The Karma also responds faster when you press play or skip a track with MP3. In my opinion, the Ogg Vorbis format and, in particular, decoder are not optimized as well as MP3 for portable devices. That isn't surprising, given the age and funding behind MP3, but it's still true. At the same time, OV works on portables but, for me, it doesn't give anything to outweigh the small disadvantages.
Of course, details like the format and the encoder don't matter at all when the playback software/hardware inserts almost a second of additional silence, just because it's thinking about what to do next *after* the track has finished, rather than before it finishes so that the next track is ready in time. That's the problem that the iPod still has to this day, which is a real shame.
There are now lots of players which are "almost gapless" in that they either get ready in advance or move from one track to the next quick enough that the gaps they add are very small. For many this is good enough, for some it isn't, but it's a personal thing. Either way, there are still very few players which will do true gapless like the Karma. The new Sony players will do it, but only if you rip and encode your music in a certain way; at least that's the way it seems so far.
Hope this is useful information! I just came here since I was looking through the referral logs to my site (which I don't do often, but is quite interesting when I do. :)).

LOL No, that's the company store and it still exists.

I find it mildly amusing that even Apple used animated GIF bullets on their website XD
Anyone know how much a Tshirt is? And if there's any way to get one other than going to San Francisco?

To everyone who suggested a case, thank you so much for your input and help (liamkp).
I have a black on black Rebel Touch in the mail after seeing it and loving it on a friend's iPod touch.

You should upload some pictures and a review.

LOL. Climte gate showed the world that junk science and data suppression are the norm amongst these fraudsters, and that they'll stoop to any level to "prove" their preposterous theories. These global warming "scientists" are laughing stocks.
Ehh . . . did you see the PDF? The one that shows there was no suppression of evidence? What on earth would scientists gain my unanimously supporting global warming?
Since the political elite and capitalist giants all oppose global warming, money would (and does) flow to those who try to falsify it. Those who support it, by and large, get nothing other.

So has anyone actually used this yet?
Or is everyone using QemuX? (Which is horribly buggy on my Powerbook, at least)

I'm having trouble deciding between a higher end 15-inch MBP or an 11" MBA with a gaming PC.
If I were to go with the combo, would an iBUYPOWER Gamer Power 567D3 in the 500 dollar price range be a good desktop for present and future gaming, or would the CyberpowerPC Gamer Ultra 2057's specs provide future proofing as well as justify the ~$900 price? (mainly the HD 5570 vs the 5770 and 4GB vs 8GB RAM)
If there are any other gaming PC's you have used, feel free to tell me what the best ones are!
By the looks of it, those are some ridiculously weak GPU's when compared to current generation GPU's in the MBP (AMD HD 6000 series opposed to ATI HD 5000 series)
I recommend 15" high end w/ hi-res screen, if you can afford it.
None of the specs justify either desktop's price. Here's the specs for the PC listed below that you can build yourself:
Intel Core i5-2500K Quad Core 3.3Ghz, 8GB RAM, nVidia GTX 560, Blu-ray capable, 1TB Hard Drive, $1100. Shoots both of those PCs out of the water blindfolded.
If not, get the 11" MBA. DO NOT GET A PREMADE gaming PC. Build one yourself, it's often cheaper. Here's a list of items to get you started:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072 Intel i5-2500K. Don't get the i7-2600K, not much improvement for $100.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100007 Arctic Silver 5 CPU thermal grease, for use with heatsink
Total cost w/ rebate @ Newegg discounts: $1100-1200. I know it's not cheap, but that's much cheaper for a machine of that caliber, which usually go for $2000-2500. If you want it cheaper, go with a weaker GPU (Such as the GTX 550) or get a DVD drive.

Hi !
I'm very happy to attend to the Apple Expo @ Paris but I'd like to know if Keynotes does automaticaly mean that Steve Jobs will be there ? I've also heard that a new iMac will be launched... Is Steve Jobs always coming on major "Apple events" ?
Being the first time at an Apple Keynote, is it allowed to make photos of the presented products + presenter or is it forbidden ?
Thx for your answers ;-)

Why is it every time a celebrity dies Elton John's comments have to be quoted? Does any one care what he thinks? I bet he never even met her.
Maybe because they were friends and raised millions for AIDS research.

I would recommend some focus. I spent 2 minutes on your site (way longer than anyone who would find it with organic search) and I still am not quite sure what it is about.
Are you a photo studio? can I hire you? what is with the tutorials? blog? school project (I'm guessing it may be one based on how it is written)? It just isn't clear.
The design is nice and simple, looks like a good start.

Hey folks,
I was hoping to gain a little insight into DSLR options, as I am looking at getting my first one this year. Been waiting a long time, as the last point and shoot (Nikon) I bought is relatively limited in its use. It does relatively nice macro work (that's what I use it for most), but gets pretty brutal shutter speeds in real life situations and has some nasty barrel effects in all modes. Pretty inadequate for shooting anything with dim lighting or straight lines, which is a lot...
My preference would be to return to Canon, the maker of my previous digital cameras and the older SLR's I have used in the past. Obviously there's a long list of differences, but I did want to point out that I have taken some photography classes during my education so while I do know the basics, I don't have any delusions about being a master photographer either. I'm just a guy with hobbies that lend themselves to photography (miniature painting and buying shiny cars, I do have friends who build and race as well). The fact that I have four weddings to attend this fall also gives me a reason to buy a nice camera.
Anyway, I am looking at the Digital Rebel series and weighing the different options. The T3i, T3 and last year's T2i all have pros and cons, with the T3i obviously having the longest list of features, but it's also got the biggest price tag of the bunch. I also believe that many retailers are packaging the T3 and T3i with a newer version of the 18-55mm lens (though I'm not sure how big of a difference there is).
I would definitely appreciate some input on the meaningful differences between these models. Thanks in advance :)

my vote is for the XT ati products are denerally better then nvidia one and tend to last longer
but thats just my 2 cents worth
ROFL! What?!
They both are equally good companies and have equally good products.
How does the ATi "last longer?"
As for the thread question. I would say the 850XT because its definately is better over the 6800GT.

Hi : I am a new mac mini user..
I have the Mac Mini Server box and it is all setup and running...To start with i dont intend to use many of the server features...may be later once i get a better understanding of my need...
I try to connect to my home wifi and it says connected but not letting to browse...I assume this got to do with a static IP or DHCP etc..Since we have a windows notebook, iphone and ipad and everything works with that Wifi so i dont want to disturb any settings that could potentially impact..
Has anybody encountered this and what is the solution ??
Tks for your help

You would probably get a quick answer in the MacBook forum (this is the Mac Pro desktop forum) but I think any office screen cleaner and lint-free cloth will do the job.
