I've been testing out the Find My iPhone app for my iPad 2 (AT&T 3G). I have cellular data turned on but have not subscribed to AT&T's data service. GPS is working. Back home on my own wifi network, me.com can locate my iPad 2.
Sitting in the public library, I have my iPad 2 connected to the library's Wifi network. On my computer, I login to me.com to see if I can locate the iPad 2 and it can't. It made me think that perhaps the library's wifi system is not allowing me.com to backtrace to get to the iPad 2. Do you think that's happening?
I don't plan to buy cellular data service on the iPad 2 except maybe once a year for a month so am I screwed that Find My iPhone isn't going to work unless I buy cellular data?
Thanks!

I purchased the peachpit press books intending to do the Apple Certified System Administrator (ACSA 10.6) exams but havent had time to do so until now. From what iv'e read about discontinuing of xserve and apple looking to move away from this area is it really worth my time and money doing this certification anymore? I want some apple certification to my name. Im wondering if I should just do the Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) 10.6. its only one exam as opposed to four. Any advice would be appreciated thanks

At the top of my iTunes window (vers. 10.2.2 12) I have a long yellowish rectangle in the middle. The rectangle used to have the name of the item that was playing, and a play bar with the time played on the left and the time remaining on the right. In the play bar, there was a diamond shaped slider to control the current position being played.
Instead, now I see an array of 16 by 40 small grayish rectangles, divided into two groups. The 40 stacks of rectangles appear to move up and down as the music or audio plays. I dont know the correct word for this is, but I think of it as equalizer output.
The play bar is useful to me, the equalizer graphic is not. How do I get the play bar back?

Yes. But remember once you do that you will not be able to modify the project if later you want to change the exported file - you will have to start all over.Ah yes, thanks. Maybe I will keep the projects but delete the events.

Actually as I indicated in my post, the extra height in pixels is worth it, especially for photo work.
It's totally not worth it. (Believe me, I've worked in both scenarios with alot of photos.) Between the dock, menu bar, and any tool pallettes, that extra 150 pixels will be easily eaten up. With a dual-monitor setup, you can move all that clutter to another screen.

Because Apple has taste and actually gives a damn about basic aesthetics.

We are talking about a file server on a local network. It's only data transfer bottleneck would be the ethernet connection. The iBooks stock HD could easily keep up with gigabit ethernet.
Don't understand what your "very very slow" statement is based on.
That iBook does not have gigabit ethernet. No iBook has gigabit ethernet. 100mbit is not very fast. We're talking realistically 8-10MB/s, maximum on a 100mbit is 12.5 which you'll never hit.

I wanted to buy online but, even tho the page says it does, after you begin the process of "reserving" a 3GS, you are only given an option to pick up at a local Apple store...

I looked at the contentsOfDirectoryAtPath:error: method and Apple states "An array of NSString objects identifying the directories and files (including symbolic links) contained in path." So my question is, will the IKImageBrowserView use this string and display the image? If not what is the solution to this problem?
Thanks

I was just wondering if there is any reason that the macbook has not been updated in so long? looking at the buyers guide, this seems to be the longest time between upgrades?

Hi all,
I have an old B/O Beogram 5000 turntable. I purchased and connected a ROLLS phono preamp to connect to output from tt. Apple store sold me an iCable to plug in to mic receptacle:confused:. Using garage band, I tried recording and got nothing. Does anyone have experience with this setup and can please provide specific hookup steps so my lps can be heard again via iTunes? Thanks.

Looks like you guys have a point. Now, I am trying to decide between a MacBook Air and a MacBook Pro. The thing is, buying a 13 inch MBA for $1300 will get me:
2GB of RAM
1.86 GHZ Processor
A 2.3 pound computer
OR
I can get a MacBook Air 13 inch, $100 less or $100 more. The thing is, although MBAs are lighter, MBPs have bigger hard drives, Thunderbolt, better graphics, but they weigh more.
Help ME!!!

I use MPEG Streamclip and export as MPEG-4 using the H.264 codec and determine the bit rate (1MB/s is more than enough for 720p footage) and enable "multi-pass".
Or you could use Handbrake and use one of its presets.

I am planning to upgrade from my 3G to an iPhone 4. What is the best way to sync the new iPhone 4 with iTunes the first time to ensure all my data, apps, and everything else gets moved over to my new phone seamlessly?
Cheers...

2008 black mac. has 1 dead memory slot. no warranty. originally had 2 sticks of 512 memory. now we have 1 stick of 1gb memory. college student says it is super slow. waking from sleep mode, takes 5 minutes to go online. its not my computer so i cannot verify that it is slow. she says it barely runs. is there any software functions that can be done to speed it up so its close to original performance? i am old school pc. i say reload software/os? does that even help on a mac? people complain on this site that mac is slow? what does the exactly mean? a hardware issue or something else?

Looks like the mall opens at 10AM on the natick collection website. Anyone plan on buying from this store. What's your plan? I assume the mall doors open earlier.
